Award

There are several types of award.
An award can be issued on a preliminary question - eg jurisdiction, privilege etc. This is an example of interim award.
We typically issue numerous procedural orders in any complicated matters. These are not awards.
Typically, we issue interim awards as in most cases the question of damages is determined after the principle question of whether or not any damages are payable at all is determined.
Typically, we issue draft awards as in complicated matters with limited rights of appeals it is important that the parties have an opportunity to correct any unlikely overt defect before the award becomes incapable of being corrected.
At the end of the arbitration the parties can expect a written binding award which finalises the matter in dispute.
